Abstract

As the world urbanizes amidst challenges to sustainability and equity, Latin America offers fertile ground for research and reflection. Chile has reached high levels (90 per cent) of urbanization, leading world trends. Recent developments as citizen movements pressure to democratize urban governance – and resistance to their efforts – go to the heart of questions addressed by this Handbook.
